Why online card payments are Singapore-only right now

Online card payments run on Stripe, which can only switch them on for a business in the country it is set up in. Here is why, and what to use in the meantime.

If you do not see the option to take online card payments yet, it is not a setting you are missing, and it is not because Flowesce takes a cut of your sales. Flowesce adds nothing on top of the card processing fee. The reason is about where card processing is allowed to switch on.

The short version

Online card payments run on Stripe. Stripe only switches on card acceptance for a business in the same country the business itself is set up in. Flowesce's company (Songer Technologies Pte. Ltd.) is registered in Singapore, so online card payments work for salons in Singapore today.

We are opening more regions over time. In Settings, then Payments, a salon outside a supported region sees a note that card payments are coming, with a Notify me button. Tap it once and we will email you the moment card payments reach your country. Tapping it again does nothing extra, it is already recorded.

Everything else in Flowesce works in every country: bookings, your online store, inventory, clients, marketing, and your books. Only the card-at-checkout step is region-gated.

Make sure your country is set correctly

Eligibility follows your business country. Flowesce guesses it from your location when you sign up and asks you to confirm it. You can change it any time in Settings, then Business.

If you are in Singapore but do not see the Connect option, check that your business country is set to Singapore there.

One guard to know: if you already have card payments active and try to switch your country to a region where payments are not live, Flowesce blocks the change so it does not quietly break a working setup. Email hello@flowesce.com if you genuinely need to move a live account.

What to use in the meantime: reserve orders and manual payment

While card-at-checkout is not live in your region, your online shop still works fully. It runs in reserve mode: customers place an order and you arrange payment yourself. Flowesce makes that smooth.

  1. Set up a manual payment method. In your storefront settings, open the Manual payment section and add any of: a payment QR image (for example a PayNow QR), bank transfer details, and a short instructions line.
  2. Customers place a reserve order. They browse your shop and check out. No card is charged. On their confirmation (and in their email), they see exactly how to pay you, using the QR or bank details you added.
  3. Mark the order paid. When the payment lands, open the order in Storefront, then Orders, and choose Mark as paid. This records that the customer paid; it is separate from fulfilling the order, so you can mark paid and fulfil in either order.
  4. Fulfil it to record the sale, which deducts stock and books the revenue like any other sale.

This way you sell online from day one, wherever you are, and you can switch to card-at-checkout the moment it reaches your region.

What can go wrong

  • You are in Singapore but cannot connect. Confirm your business country is Singapore in Settings, then Business.
  • You tapped Notify me and nothing visibly changed. That is expected. It quietly records your interest once; you will get an email when your region opens.
  • You want to charge cards now but cannot. Until your region is supported, use the manual payment method above. It covers QR, bank transfer, and your own instructions, and it works everywhere.

What's next

Set up your manual payment details and the rest of your shop in Set up and run your online storefront. When card payments are live for you, the card payments guide walks through connecting Stripe.
