Gift cards

Sell a gift card. Gain a client.

Sell one at the desk or let your website sell it while you sleep. It becomes a code with a balance that spends like cash on anything you offer, the tax included, with the change kept on the card. And the money counts as revenue when it's spent, not when it's sold, so your books stay honest.

For the salon leaving money on the table every December. A client wants to buy their sister a treatment and today you write it on a Post-it. Now it's a real card with a real balance that draws itself down.

Sell one at the desk, or let your site sell it at 2am.

Ring up a card in person and take payment however you normally would: cash, card, bank transfer, or other. Or turn on online sales and a Gift cards page appears on your website where anyone can buy one and have it emailed straight to the recipient. Pick a preset amount or type your own.

Selling in person works on every plan, in every country.

  • Any amount you like.

Offer a few preset amounts for a quick sale, or let the buyer type a custom figure. The card carries exactly that balance.

  • Emailed to the recipient.

The card arrives as a branded email with the code and balance, styled to match your salon. No plastic to print, no client account required.

  • Selling in person works everywhere.

The front-desk sale and every redemption work on every plan, in every country. No payment processor required to hand someone a card.

  • Online purchase where you take cards.

The buy-online path rides your website's card checkout, which runs in Singapore today. The rest of gift cards works regardless.

It spends like cash. On anything.

A gift card is a real tender, right next to cash and card. Redeem it at appointment checkout, on a walk-in Quick Sale for a service or a retail product, and at your online store. It pays the full tax-inclusive total, and if the sale costs less than the balance, the change stays on the card for next time.

Same card, three surfaces. It covers the tax-inclusive total, and any change stays on the card for next time.

  • Covers the tax too.

The card applies against the total including tax, the same way handing over cash would. No awkward split where tax has to be paid separately.

  • Partial redemption leaves the rest.

A $100 card against a $68 sale leaves $32 on the card. The balance draws down; it does not get burned.

  • Splits when it runs out.

If a sale costs more than the balance, the card covers what it can and the rest goes on another tender. One checkout, no fuss.

  • Works on the storefront.

An online shopper can pay with a gift card at your store checkout, exactly like an in-person redemption.

The money counts when it's used, not when it's sold.

Selling a gift card doesn't inflate your revenue with money you haven't earned yet. A sold card sits as an outstanding liability. When the card is spent, that's the moment the value moves into your revenue and your P&L. It mirrors how store credit already works, so your numbers stay honest without you thinking about it.

Recognized revenue

Counts the moment the card is spent.

Selling a card does not inflate your revenue. The money moves into the books when the card is actually spent, so your P&L stays honest.

Lost card? Kill it. Refund? Back to the card.

If a card goes missing, void it and the balance is gone so nobody else can spend it. When you refund a sale that was paid with a gift card, the value goes back onto the card, ready to use again. The outstanding-liability read always shows how much is still out there across every card you've sold.

Refund puts value back on the card. Void kills it outright when a card goes missing. The outstanding liability report always shows what is still out there.

  • Void a lost card.

Kills the balance outright. For a card a client says they've lost or that never reached the recipient.

  • Refund to the card.

A refund on a gift-card sale puts the value back on the card, rather than trying to hand cash back against a card nobody paid with.

  • Know what's outstanding.

One number tells you the total balance still sitting on live cards, the liability you'd owe if every holder walked in tomorrow.

Common questions

Honest answers, including the ones we don't love.

Do gift cards expire?

Only if you want them to. There's a per-business setting for a default expiry, and if you leave it off, cards never expire. When an expiry is set, it's shown on the card and in the confirmation email so there are no surprises.

Can a client use part of a card and keep the rest?

Yes. A gift card draws down like cash. Spend $30 of a $50 card and $20 stays on it for next time. Partial redemption is the default behavior, on services, retail, and the online store alike.

What happens if someone loses their card?

Void it. The balance is killed so nobody can spend it. Because a gift card is a bearer code rather than something tied to a client login, voiding is the right tool when a card is lost or stolen.

Does selling a gift card show up as revenue right away?

No, and that's deliberate. A sold card is a liability, not revenue, because you still owe the service or product behind it. The value moves into your revenue and P&L at the moment the card is spent. This mirrors how store credit is handled, so your reports don't overstate what you've actually earned.

Can customers buy a gift card online?

Where your website can take a card payment, which is Singapore today. Everywhere else, you sell cards in person and clients redeem them anywhere. The buy-online path is the only part gated by geography.

Do I need a paid plan for gift cards?
